The Ambassador Club is our way of expressing appreciation for the experience and assets of customers age 55+. The club is a combination of products, services and special opportunities to make money management easier and life more enjoyable!

Membership is free with a minimum balance of $1,500 in any Heartland Bank checking or savings account or Certificates of Deposit valued at $15,000. Exclusive Ambassador Club checking and savings accounts offer features available to members only. Memberships are also offered for a $15 monthly fee.

Ammunition Depot - June 25th


We will be traveling to the Naval Ammunition Depot (NAD) in Adams and Clay County for a guided tour conducted by Walt Miller from Hastings. 

  • Cost: $59
  • Departure: East bull pen in Geneva at 9:00 am
    • If you are a member from Hastings or Kearney, you are welcome to join and meet us at the entrance of Central Community College in Hastings
  • Details: Transportation, tour, lunch, tips and taxes, guide
  • RSVP Due Date: June 10th
  • Interesting Facts:
    • The NAD was the largest of the Navy's WWII inland munitions depots
    • The NAD occupies 49,000 acres of Adams and Clay County farmland
    • Construction began in July 1842 and closed in June 1966
    • By V-J Day in 1945, the NAD employed 10,000 military and civilian people
    • Costing a total of $71 million, the NAD had 207 miles of railroad track, 274 miles of roads, and 2,200 buildings including hundreds of igloo-shaped explosive storage magazines
    • The population of Hastings jumped from 15,200 in 1942 to 23,000 in 1943
    • A September 1944 explosion killed nine workers, injured 53, and left a 550 foot-long crater with a blast that was felt 100 miles away

State Fair - August 31st


Country singer John Anderson will headline Older Nebraskans Day at the State Fair on Wednesday, August 31st. Anderson has 23 albums, more than 60 singles, and a wealth of industry awards to his credit. Fans may remember him best for a few of his most popular songs, including "Swingin'," "Seminole Wind," Straight Tequila Night," and "Money in the Bank."

Sheila Smith grew up in Perry, Missouri (Mark Twain Country). After graduating from Mark Twain High School, she was employed by Perry Machine & Die where she served as Quality Control Supervisor. She moved to Geneva in 2001 and began working at Hilty’s Grocery Store in addition to working some nights and weekends at the Heartland Boys Home.

Sheila began her employment at Heartland Bank in 2002 as a teller. She started a new adventure by becoming Ambassador Club Director. 

For six years Sheila has been active on the Fillmore County Extension Board and helps with the 4-H livestock sale. She is a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva.

Sheila has two daughters, Tiya Johnson and Tara Barton, and four grandchildren. Sheila and her husband, Vic, live in Shickley.

Lois Ryan grew up in Hoxie, Kansas where she graduated from Hoxie High School. After graduation, Lois attended Colby Community College. While in college she worked in Larned Kansas for Larned State Bank. She moved to Kearney from Horton, Kansas 10 years ago. 

Lois began her employment with The State Bank of Riverdale in 2012. When the bank merged and became Heartland Bank in March of 2014, Lois became Ambassador Club Coordinator for the Kearney branch.

Her husband, Jim, works at Cash Wa in Kearney. She has two daughters; Amy, who is a stay at home mom and Whitney, who is a trainer at UNK. Lois has three grandchildren; Brady, Grace and Josie.
